Comedy knows no boundaries, and Mexican humorist Roberto Gómez Bolaños, or “Chespirito” as he’s commonly known, is a name Latinos all over the world recognize and remember with a smile on their face. Soon, the life of the talented comedian will make it to the small screen through an HBO Max production.

Aside from making everybody have a good laugh, Bolaños was also a creative screenwriter, actor, songwriter, author, and television and film director. He’s considered the most important Spanish-language comedian of all time.

After four years since the project was first announced, Warner Bros. Discovery and THR3 Media Group confirmed that the bioseries, produced by HBO Max, will most likely be titled Sin querer queriendo.

What We Know About ‘Sin Querer Queriendo’?

Throughout this new production, fans will have the opportunity to learn like never before about the man that’s behind emblematic characters like “El Chavo del 8,” “Chapulín Colorado,” and “El Chompiras,” among many others.

“Having the opportunity to tell your father’s story can be such a joy. Especially when your father is Roberto Gómez Bolaños,” said Roberto Gómez, son of the Mexican humorist, who’s also involved in the show’s production. “My father was a little man with a big heart. And so, we will have the task of showing the world a talented human being and, at the same time, a father, a husband, a friend, and a brother.”

The production team is not only looking for this series to resonate with long-time fans that grew up watching “Chespirito” on TV but also with new audiences.

Sin querer queriendo will be the most fascinating and emotional tribute that can be made to Roberto Gómez Bolaños, capturing an extraordinary biography that will allow us to peek into the creative process from which his memorable characters were born,” said Tomás Darcyl, Founding Partner of THR3 Media, in a press release.

This is the first production that tells the story of the renowned Mexican comedian, which will start its pre-production process this 2023.
